The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is working closely with Interpol to issue blue notices against Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra, two Delhi-based entrepreneurs who fled to Phuket after a devastating nightclub fire in north Goa killed 25 people. The CBI's Global Operations Centre has a strong track record of locating and extraditing over 200 fugitives abroad, with 136 individuals brought back through extradition or deportation. A blue notice is a crucial tool in global crime-fighting, allowing member countries to collect information about a person's identity, location, or activities in connection with a criminal investigation. This is not an arrest request, but rather a way to track a suspect globally. India and Thailand have a formal extradition treaty in place since 2015, and officials are confident that cooperation between the two countries will lead to the Luthras' swift return. Efforts are underway to secure an arrest warrant from a Goa court and share it with Thai authorities. The Luthras fled to Thailand shortly after the tragic blaze, boarding an IndiGo flight at 5:30 am on Sunday. By Monday, teams confirmed they were already in Thailand. The fire at Birch by Romeo Lane broke out around 11:45 pm on Saturday, resulting in the deaths of 25 people, including 20 staff members and five tourists. The CBI is working with senior officials and central agencies to locate the Luthras in Phuket and bring them back to face justice. An arrest warrant has been obtained from a Goa court, and efforts are being made to share it with Thai authorities through the Ministry of External Affairs.
