An internal report from a dry run of the Central Board of Secondary Education's on-screen marking system flagged 36 concerns, including risks of 'blind checking', weakened supervisory oversight, and data loss risks.

The report, submitted in January 2026, was conducted at five Delhi schools and warned of 'superficial evaluation', lack of opportunities for evaluators to deliberate, and absence of safeguards against data loss.

The report also highlighted technical limitations, including sluggish performance, auto-save issues, and inability to view question papers and marking schemes simultaneously.

CBSE's FAQ document, issued in May, acknowledged some of the issues, including save option addition, mark deletion process alteration, and net speed issues resolution.

However, the report's findings raise concerns about the board's preparedness for the Class 12 board examinations, which were conducted using the OSM system.
