In a significant step towards bridging the gap between remote villages and the outside world, a mobile tower has been installed at Kondapalli village in Chhattisgarh's Naxal-affected Bijapur district. Located 450 km from the state capital Raipur, the village was previously cut off from the rest of the world due to its dense forests and lack of basic amenities like roads, electricity, and drinking water. The installation of the mobile tower, part of the state government's 'Niyad Nellanar' scheme, marks a new era of connectivity for the villagers. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed his commitment to ensuring that every village and family in the Bastar region gains access to digital services and opportunities. The mobile network will provide the villagers with access to essential services like banking, Aadhaar, ration, health schemes, pension schemes, and educational services. The tower's activation has sparked excitement among the villagers, who celebrated with traditional rituals and a procession. The village has seen significant development in recent months, with a security camp set up in December 2024. The administration has been able to reach the village regularly, and a long-defunct road is being reconstructed by the Border Roads Organisation. Electricity was introduced to the village just two months ago, changing daily life for the residents. Under the Niyad Nella Naar scheme, 403 villages around 69 new security camps in the Bastar region are receiving community services and individual-centric schemes. Over the past two years, 728 mobile towers have been installed in the region, with 449 towers upgraded to 4G. This initiative aims to bring development to remote villages and ensure that they are part of the mainstream.
