Senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has filed a public interest litigation in the Supreme Court against the deletion of 2.7 million names from West Bengal's voter list.
The plea claims that many underprivileged citizens are being deprived of essential benefits due to the deletions.
Chowdhury has demanded the deployment of additional judges to manage the state's caseload, which he claims will take 4-5 years to clear with the current system.
The petition also calls for the establishment of block-wise appellate tribunals and a digital portal for public access to judicial orders.
