A Delhi court has refused to take cognizance of the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) allegations of money laundering against Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. The Congress party claims this is a victory against the 'conspiracy of malicious intent' for political revenge. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said the five-day interrogation was a 'political witch hunt' and the FIR quashing proves 'truth has prevailed'. He accused the BJP government of hatching a conspiracy to defame the National Herald and the Congress party. However, BJP leader Gaurav Bhatia countered that the dismissal is procedural, not on merit, and there is no exoneration. He stated that the primary criminal case, alleging cheating and breach of trust, is still pending trial. Congress general secretary KC Venugopal hailed the court's ruling as a 'tight slap' on those who tried to besmirch Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi through the case. He accused the ED of being driven by 'political vendetta'. The Congress party sees this as a victory against the BJP's 'politics of harassment' and a demonstration that the truth will always prevail. They have been consistently exposing the BJP government's failures for the past 11 years. The quashing of the FIR comes after Rahul Gandhi's recent tirade against vote rigging, and the Congress party believes this is a clear message to the BJP government and its agencies to stop targeting their opponents through frivolous cases.
