Congress leaders have slammed the BJP over the rejection of nomination papers of party candidate Meenakshi Natarajan, accusing the ruling party of attempting to manipulate the Rajya Sabha election. The Congress delegation was refused a meeting with Election Commission officials, forcing them to stage a sit-in outside its office.
Congress leader Meenakshi Natarajan accused the BJP of subverting elections in Madhya Pradesh and attempting to impose a one-party system and dictatorship. The party has invited a Congress delegation to meet it on Wednesday over the party's demands.
The polling for Rajya Sabha biennial elections is slated to take place on June 18. Congress leaders have vowed to fight the decision with all their might and will challenge it legally as well as politically.
