The Congress party is preparing to move the Supreme Court against the rejection of Meenakshi Natarajan's nomination for Rajya Sabha polls from Madhya Pradesh.

A delegation of top party leaders met the Election Commission and demanded that the decision be reversed, calling it 'poor and absolutely partisan.'

Natarajan's nomination was rejected on Tuesday after BJP leaders filed an objection, alleging she had concealed details of a pending case in her election affidavit.

The Congress has argued that Natarajan was only a respondent and not an accused, and that no FIR had followed her response.

Congress leaders have begun an indefinite fast in Bhopal to protest the rejection and staged demonstrations across Madhya Pradesh.
