A shocking incident unfolded at Delhi's Terminal 1 on Friday when a SpiceJet passenger, Ankit Dewan, claimed he was physically assaulted by an off-duty Air India Express pilot, Captain Virender Sejwal, following a verbal dispute over a security queue. Dewan alleged that he was verbally abused and physically attacked in front of his family, leaving him bleeding profusely. The incident reportedly began when Dewan and his family were guided to use the security check meant for staff, as they had a four-month-old baby in a stroller. Dewan claimed that Captain Sejwal cut the queue ahead of him and responded to his complaint by asking if he was 'anpadh' (uneducated), which sparked a heated argument. The situation escalated when Captain Sejwal allegedly attacked Dewan. Dewan took to social media to share his ordeal and expressed frustration that he was forced to write a letter stating that he wouldn't pursue the matter further or risk missing his flight and losing ₹1.2 lakh worth of holiday bookings. The Delhi Police stated that it had not received a formal complaint but would take action once a written complaint is received. The incident has left Dewan and his family traumatized, particularly his daughter, who was afraid of flying for the first time. Dewan has expressed gratitude to SpiceJet for their support and assistance. Captain Sejwal has been identified as the alleged perpetrator, and an investigation is underway. The incident has raised concerns about the safety and security of passengers at airports.
