Fresh rain and thunderstorms are expected across Delhi, lowering the maximum temperature to between 34°C and 36°C. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for most parts of the city and an orange alert for the remaining areas.

The IMD predicts light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, and wind speeds of 60-80 kmph in Central, East, Northeast, Shahdara, and Southeast Delhi in the next three hours. Moderate to severe thunderstorm activity and squally winds exceeding 60 kmph are likely in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and adjoining Western Uttar Pradesh.

The maximum temperature is set to reach 39°C to 41°C by Wednesday, before rising and staying between 40°C and 42°C over the weekend. Amateur meteorologist Navdeep Dahiya attributes the back-to-back pre-monsoon rains to western disturbances.
