Delhi has taken a significant step to combat its chronic air pollution crisis by forming an expert group and a high-level implementation committee. The expert group, comprising leading domain experts, will serve as a think tank to the Delhi government, providing recommendations on preventing, controlling, and mitigating air pollution. The high-level implementation committee, led by Delhi Chief Minister, will oversee the time-bound execution and strict monitoring of all directions and action plans issued by the government, courts, and statutory bodies. The two committees will work in close coordination, ensuring a concerted effort to tackle the pollution crisis. Meanwhile, the city has seen a slight increase in its minimum temperature due to a western disturbance, with the temperature rising to 6.8 degrees Celsius, three degrees below the seasonal average. However, the air quality continued to deteriorate, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) standing at 334, categorised as 'very poor.' The India Meteorological Department has forecasted a further rise in minimum temperatures over the next few days, with strong winds expected to bring some relief to the city's air quality. The government's new initiatives aim to bring the city's air quality under control, with the people of Delhi playing a crucial role in this collective effort.
