Chants of 'Go Pradhan Go' rang out at Jantar Mantar in Delhi as Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protesters began banging thalis and spoons to demand the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The protest marked the CJP's second major mobilisation, following its June 6 gathering at Jantar Mantar, and was part of a nationwide campaign against exam paper leaks and student suicides.
CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke had urged supporters to bring thalis and spoons, claiming that vibrations created by banging them could bring about significant change, similar to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The protest was part of a growing crisis affecting students, with Dipke calling on the Centre to provide ₹1 crore compensation to the families of students who died by suicide amid examination-related controversies.
Security was tightened across Delhi ahead of the protest, with the Delhi Police granting permission to the CJP to hold the demonstration.
