Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar extended his stay in Delhi on Monday, delaying his return to Karnataka. He will mark six years as the state Congress president on Tuesday, with several party events planned to celebrate the occasion.
Shivakumar had initially planned to return to Bengaluru on Monday but decided to stay in Delhi for another day. He is expected to leave for Karnataka on Tuesday.
When asked about meeting the party high command, Shivakumar remained tight-lipped. However, he confirmed that several events had been planned to mark his six-year tenure as KPCC chief, including a dinner with MLAs and MLCs.
Shivakumar also mentioned that legislators had been invited first due to the ongoing Assembly session. He will host a dinner for MLAs and MLCs on Tuesday and attend a Congress Legislative Party (CLP) meeting the following day.
As the Congress observer for the Assam Assembly elections, Shivakumar met Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Gaurav Gogoi in Delhi on Monday. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah recently expressed willingness to present two more budgets during the government's tenure.
Public Works Department Minister Satish Jarkiholi stated that the state leadership would continue to manage affairs in Shivakumar's absence, emphasizing support for the Deputy CM.
