Chennai, DMK senior leader Thangam Thennarasu clarified party chief M K Stalin's remarks on the TVK government's survival in Tamil Nadu, saying his comments were not made with intent to topple the government.

Stalin had said the government may not survive beyond three months, but Thennarasu claimed Stalin meant the government was operating under uncertainty and his remarks were not a call to action.

Thennarasu said the DMK leader had stated he would not criticise the current government for six months, but the government's precarious condition had forced him to speak sooner.

The DMK leader claimed the government has been plagued by issues such as murders, robberies, machete attacks, drug trafficking, power cuts, farmers' protests, and sexual violence, and Stalin's remarks were made in the context of these issues.
