The Election Commission has agreed to meet a Congress delegation on Wednesday over the rejection of Meenakshi Natarajan's nomination for the Rajya Sabha elections. The nomination was rejected on charges of concealing information in the affidavit.
Congress has called the rejection a 'murder of democracy' and vowed to challenge the matter in court. Party leaders have staged protests at the ECI office in Bhopal and the poll body headquarters in Delhi.
Meenakshi Natarajan, a former MP and close aide of Rahul Gandhi, has alleged that the BJP is 'muzzling democracy and the Constitution' and that the rejection of her nomination is a case of 'seat theft.'
