Police claim that Siya Goyal and her alleged boyfriend Chetan Chaudhary conspired to kill Pune businessman Ketan Agarwal due to fears of 'family shame' if they eloped.

According to investigators, Siya believed that calling off the wedding and running away with Chetan would tarnish her family's reputation.

Police allege that the couple decided to remove Ketan from the picture altogether, and forensic examination of their mobile phones revealed internet searches related to ways of killing him.

The investigation found that Siya and Chetan spoke 2,004 times between January 1 and June 18, averaging eight to ten phone calls every day over nearly six months.

Police also claim that the couple staged Ketan's death as an accidental fall during a trek, and that Chetan had reached the fort earlier, followed the couple to a secluded spot and pushed Ketan into the valley.

Both Siya and Chetan have been arrested and booked under Sections 103 and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, dealing with murder and criminal conspiracy.
