Former Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev met Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma hours after resigning from the Trinamool Congress. Dev, who was the Rajya Sabha MP from West Bengal, revealed she wants to continue her political career in Assam.
She met Sarma after resigning from the party and as a Member of Parliament, stating she had to leave her Rajya Sabha seat as it was given by the party.
Dev said her joining any party would be the parties' decision and that she wants to work in Assam, but cannot disclose details about her meeting with Sarma.
Her resignation is the latest in a series of setbacks for the TMC following its loss in the West Bengal Assembly elections.
