A Goa court has extended the police custody of Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra, the owners of the nightclub where a devastating fire broke out on December 6, until December 29. The brothers, who were arrested on December 16 after being deported from Thailand, have been cooperating with the investigation. The police had requested additional time to recover crucial documents related to the case. Their lawyer, Parag Rao, said the brothers did not oppose the extension, as they wanted to cooperate with the investigation. Meanwhile, the court granted bail to Bharat Singh Kohli, the business manager who oversees the day-to-day operations of the club. Kohli was granted bail on a personal bond of ₹50,000 and was ordered to report to the Investigating Officer every month and deposit his passport. The Luthra brothers have been accused of not being responsible for the day-to-day operations of the nightclub, with that responsibility lying with the managers they hired. However, they are also accused of forging a No Objection Certificate from the health office and producing it as genuine to obtain licenses. The court has granted interim anticipatory bail to the Luthra brothers in a second FIR alleging cheating and forgery. The Goa Police have arrested eight people in the case, including the silent partner of the Luthra brothers, Ajay Gupta, who was re-arrested after being granted bail earlier.
