Goa Nightclub Fire Claims 25 Lives: Eyewitnesses Describe Chaos and Devastation

At least 25 people lost their lives in a devastating fire that engulfed a popular nightclub in Goa's Arpora on Sunday. The blaze, which is believed to have been caused by a gas cylinder explosion, also left many injured. Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with flames erupting suddenly and the entire structure being engulfed in fire. According to eyewitness Fatima Shaikh, a tourist from Hyderabad, the fire started suddenly, causing panic among the crowd. "We rushed out of the club, only to see the entire structure up in flames," she said. The nightclub was crowded, with at least 100 people on the dance floor, making it difficult for some to escape. A resident who witnessed the incident said that they heard an explosion while on their way home and later saw ambulances arriving at the scene. "We heard an explosion, and later saw ambulances at the spot. When we reached the location, we saw that the incident had already occurred," they said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences over the incident, calling it "deeply saddening." He announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh for the next of kin of each deceased in the fire mishap. The Goa government has promised to provide all possible assistance to those affected by the tragedy.
