A devastating nightclub fire in Goa has claimed the lives of at least 25 people, with 14 of them being staff members of the establishment. The blaze broke out at the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in Arpora village, North Goa, around 12:04 am on Sunday. The owners of the nightclub, Gaurav Luthra and Saurabh Luthra, have been booked by the police, and Arpora-Nagoa sarpanch Roshan Redkar has been detained for questioning. The fire is believed to have been caused by a blast from a cylinder, according to the police. Most of the victims died due to suffocation. The injured have been taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. The incident has sparked a political row, with the Goa Congress demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. The party alleged that the state government was responsible for the tragedy and had failed to ensure fire safety measures at the nightclub. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and assured that the state government is providing all possible assistance to those affected. An investigation into the incident is underway, and authorities have promised to conduct a fire safety audit at similar venues to prevent similar incidents in the future.
