In a heartbreaking scene, relatives and friends of the victims of a nightclub fire in Goa gathered outside the morgue of a state-run hospital, anxiously awaiting news about their loved ones. The devastating blaze at the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in North Goa on Sunday night claimed 25 lives and left six others injured. A group of laborers from Jharkhand, who had been working at the nightclub, were particularly distraught, as four of their kin were among the dead. 'We cannot accept the bodies,' said Nandlal Nag, a security guard from Jharkhand. 'The owner should arrange for us to transport them back home to our village.' The victims, who had been working in various hotels and nightclubs in Goa for five years, came from Jharkhand. The police are working to identify the remaining seven victims, and a postmortem will be conducted once the formalities are complete. The families are expected to receive the mortal remains after the identification process is completed, which may take a day.
