A devastating nightclub fire in Goa has claimed 25 lives and injured six others. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident and assured that the owner and general manager of the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub will be arrested. The fire broke out in the early hours of Sunday at the popular party venue in Arpora village, located about 25 km from the state capital Panaji. The victims were trapped due to congestion and small doors, with some rushing to the ground floor only to get stuck. The injured are receiving the best medical care and are in stable condition. This is the first time such a tragedy has struck Goa, and Sawant has vowed to identify the cause and hold those responsible accountable.
