Goa Police Detain Ajay Gupta in Connection with Nightclub Fire that Claimed 25 Lives

In a significant development, the Goa Police have detained Ajay Gupta, an alleged business partner of the Luthra brothers, who owned the nightclub that caught fire on Saturday, killing 25 people. A Look Out Circular (LOC) has been issued against Gupta and another individual, Surinder Kumar Khosla, a British citizen. Gupta and Khosla came under police scrutiny after the Luthra brothers, Saurabh and Gaurav, fled to Thailand just hours after the devastating fire. The brothers, prominent Delhi businessmen, were on a flight from New Delhi to Phuket, Thailand, by 5:30 am on Sunday, just five hours after the fire was reported at 12:04 am on Sunday. According to the Goa Police, the Luthra brothers boarded IndiGo flight 6E 1073 on December 7, which landed in Phuket after 11 am on Sunday. The police have already issued a look-out notice against the Luthra brothers via the Bureau of Immigration (BoI) on Sunday evening. In a related development, the police have arrested five individuals, including the nightclub's chief general manager, in connection with the fire. The detained individuals include Rajiv Modak, Vivek Singh, Rajiv Singhania, Riyanshu Thakur, and Bharat Kohli. Goa Police DIG Varsha Sharma confirmed that an LOC had been issued against Gupta and Khosla, and said that Khosla is a British citizen. The police are conducting a thorough investigation into the fire and the circumstances surrounding the Luthra brothers' hasty departure from India.
