Goa has a one-month drinking water supply stock, the government has said, as the state witnesses a lull in monsoon rainfall. State Water Supply Department Minister Subhash Phal Desai assured that there is no need to panic, with enough water to meet the requirement for a month.
The water level at various reservoirs has dropped drastically due to the absence of rain. Phal Desai has been receiving calls from industries inquiring about the condition of the water supply.
The Selaulim dam, which supplies water to South Goa, Kushavati district, and parts of North Goa, is 27% full. The Anjunem dam has a stock of 9.9%, while the Mhaisal Dam stands at 19%. However, the Chapoli dam and Amthane reservoir have a good stock of water.
The India Meteorological Department has predicted that rainfall activities will resume in the state by next weekend.
