The Haryana Legislative Assembly witnessed a dramatic scene on its last day of the winter session. BJP MLA Shakti Rani Sharma tabled a Privilege Motion against Congress MLA Indu Raj Narwal, citing an alleged breach of privilege after a member raised a question about her family on December 19. The motion was approved by Speaker Harvinder Kalyan, with 15 MLAs, mostly from the ruling party, in support. In response, the Congress party staged a walkout, expressing their strong opposition to the motion. Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda was among those who opposed the motion, while INLD MLA Arjun Chautala extended support. The Privilege Motion will now be sent to the Privileges Committee for further action. This latest development comes just days after the Congress party's no-confidence motion against the Haryana BJP government was defeated in the assembly. The walkout and motion's failure sparked a sharp political debate, with Haryana Ministers Krishan Kumar Bedi and Arvind Sharma accusing the Congress of using 'petty tactics' and wasting time. However, Congress MLA Geeta Bhukkal defended the party's decision, stating that they moved the no-confidence motion to raise important issues such as the deteriorating law and order situation and poor road conditions. She also highlighted the struggles of farmers in securing the Minimum Support Price (MSP) under the BJP government.
