A young IAS officer in Kerala has sparked a heated debate with a series of long-term reforms proposals, including raising the retirement age and promoting English-medium education.

Dilip K Kainikkara, serving as Tirur Sub-Collector, made the proposals in a Facebook post after the UDF's electoral victory.

He suggested raising the retirement age from 56 to at least 58, citing Kerala's higher life expectancy and improved health indicators.

Kainikkara also advocated for the division of large districts, particularly Malappuram, to improve administrative efficiency and public access to government services.

Among other proposals, he suggested encouraging nightlife and related activities to boost tourism and attract investment in the service sector.

The IAS officer also called for reforms in the school evaluation system, saying the current grading pattern had diluted academic standards.
