India and Slovakia have elevated their relations to a comprehensive partnership, solidifying ties in defence, labour mobility, digital technologies, and cyber-security. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Slovak counterpart Robert Fico held talks to strengthen their relationship, with Modi highlighting the potential for cooperation in fields like automobiles, railways, space, advanced manufacturing, and artificial intelligence.

Modi's visit to Slovakia is the second leg of his week-long European tour, and he will attend the G7 Summit in Evian and hold bilateral meetings with world leaders, including US President Donald Trump. The two countries have signed agreements on cooperation in defence, space, and civil nuclear energy, with a letter of intent on defence cooperation set to give new momentum to joint development and production.

A memorandum of understanding on labour migration will enhance the mobility of professionals and skilled workers, while an MoU on social security will be finalised soon. Fico welcomed the conclusion of negotiations between India and the EU on a free trade agreement, which he said will benefit Slovakia's automobile sector.

The two sides have also agreed to establish a joint working group on counter-terrorism and a consular dialogue, with Modi and Fico backing concerted global efforts to combat terrorism. They called for strong and decisive action against terrorist entities and their proxies, sponsors, and supporters.
