India Extends Tenure of Top Law Officers, Including Solicitor General

The Indian government has extended the tenure of Solicitor General Tushar Mehta and several additional solicitor generals (ASGs) in the Supreme Court and Delhi high court, according to a government order.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has extended Mehta's term for a further period of three years, while the tenure of ASGs Vikramjeet Banerjee, KM Nataraj, SV Raju, N Venkataraman, and Aishwarya Bhati has also been extended for three years.

The term of ASG Chetan Sharma for the Delhi high court has been extended by six months, while the tenure of 13 ASGs in the Supreme Court, including S Dwarakanath and Archana Pathak Dave, has been extended until September 9, 2027.
