In a bid to restore order to India's skies, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has issued urgent directives to airlines, particularly IndiGo, to rectify severe disruptions in flight schedules and operations. The ministry has issued two orders to alleviate passenger distress and return to normalcy as quickly as possible. Flight schedules are expected to stabilize and return to normal by midnight on Saturday, with full restoration of services anticipated within the next couple of days. To enhance transparency, passengers will be able to track delays remotely through information systems installed by airlines, including IndiGo. In cases of flight cancellations, IndiGo has been instructed to provide automatic full refunds to affected passengers. Airlines have also been told to accommodate stranded travelers in pre-booked hotels. Special provisions have been made for senior citizens, including access to airport lounges, to ensure their convenience. Passengers on delayed flights will receive refreshments and essential support at airports. A 24/7 control room has been set up by the ministry to monitor the situation in real-time. The central government remains vigilant and is in continuous consultation with all stakeholders to address the challenges faced by air passengers. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has announced rule exemptions to support the restoration of schedules and services. The government is committed to taking every possible step to ease the situation and ensure a smooth flying experience for all passengers.
