The Bar Association of India and the Bombay Bar Association have expressed concern over threats and attacks on retired Justice GS Patel and his family in India and the UK.

The threats stem from a 2024 judgment by Justice Patel settling the succession issue in the Dawoodi Bohra community, which has cleaved the community.

Both the opposing factions in the succession suit have condemned the attack, with the incumbent Syedna urging members of the community to assist law enforcement agencies.

The Hertfordshire police are investigating the matter, and the High Commission of India in London has taken up the issue with local authorities.
