The National Medical Commission has issued a no-leave advisory for medical students on May 2 and 3, except in exceptional circumstances, to prevent malpractices during the NEET-UG 2026 exam.

The advisory comes after the Department of Higher Education urged vigilance and sensitisation of students against any involvement in malpractices.

The National Testing Agency will conduct the NEET-UG in a single shift in pen-and-paper mode across 551 cities and over 5,400 centres in India and abroad, covering around 22.8 lakh candidates.

Enhanced security measures include GPS-tracked transport of question papers, double-lock strong rooms, Aadhaar-based biometric checks, and real-time monitoring through control rooms.

The steps follow the NEET-UG 2024 paper leak controversy, after which the Centre set up a seven-member panel to strengthen the National Testing Agency's functioning.
