India's Parliament to Investigate Flight Disruptions, Summons Airlines and Regulator

India's Parliament is taking action to address the recent wave of flight cancellations and disruptions, which have left thousands of travelers stranded. The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism, and Culture will summon top executives from private airlines, including IndiGo, and officials from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation and the Ministry of Civil Aviation to explain the cause of the disruptions and potential solutions. The committee has noted the difficulties faced by passengers, including parliamentarians who were affected during the Winter Session. CPI Rajya Sabha member John Brittas has also called for a joint parliamentary committee or judicial inquiry to investigate the large-scale disruptions. IndiGo canceled over 220 flights at Delhi and Mumbai airports on Sunday, with the disruptions entering their sixth day. The aviation regulator, DGCA, has sent notices to IndiGo's CEO and COO, seeking an explanation. IndiGo has established a Crisis Management Group to monitor the situation and ensure refunds to passengers.
