A 28-year-old man from Telangana was shot dead in the United States in a suspected targeted attack while making a late-night pizza delivery in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The victim, identified as Kuncha Anshul, was a resident of Gundlapochampally in the Medchal-Malkajgiri district on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
Anshul was shot dead in the early hours of June 6 while delivering pizza to a vacant unit in a high-crime North Philadelphia housing complex.
His sister, Tanvi, said Anshul had been working part-time as a pizza delivery executive on weekends to supplement his income.
Preliminary findings suggest that the pizza order may have been placed for a vacant apartment, prompting investigators to examine whether the delivery request was deliberately used to lure him to the location.
Surveillance footage showed two individuals following Anshul before the shooting, strengthening suspicions that the attack may have been planned in advance.
Family members strongly rejected the possibility of a robbery-related crime, alleging that the fake pizza order was part of a carefully orchestrated trap.
Tanvi appealed to both the Central and state governments to facilitate the repatriation of Anshul’s mortal remains to India and urged authorities to ensure a thorough investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice.
