Reports of an attack on an Indian-crewed vessel in the Gulf surfaced on Saturday, but the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) quickly denied the claims, stating that all crew members are safe.

The MEA confirmed that they have spoken to the master of the vessel, who reported that there was no attack and that all crew members are safe.

The MEA also issued a "Fake News Alert" on social media, urging people to stay alert against false and baseless claims.

The Forward Seamen's Union of India had reported that the vessel's Very High Frequency (VHF) radio was not responding, but they were able to track its location.

This incident comes after three vessels with Indian crew members were attacked in the Gulf in recent days, resulting in the deaths of three Indian mariners.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had spoken with his American counterpart Marco Rubio on Friday, lodging India's strong protest over the attacks.
