A significant improvement in air services was observed in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday, as 20 flights of IndiGo were cancelled, compared to 85 the previous day. This represents a 50% reduction in cancellations, indicating a gradual return to normalcy. Indore's Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport reported 26 cancellations, including 13 arrivals and departures, while Bhopal's Raja Bhoj Airport saw eight cancellations. Meanwhile, Jabalpur's Dumna Airport experienced six cancellations. However, Khajuraho and Gwalior airports operated without any cancellations. Airport officials claimed that the airline promptly refunded passengers and provided necessary amenities, such as food, water, and hotel stays, for those rescheduling their travel. "Overall, things have improved by 50%," said Indore Airport Director Sunil Maggirwar. "I think operations will be normal in two to three days." Maggirwar added that airport stalls have been instructed to maintain adequate stock of essentials, and washrooms and seating arrangements have been enhanced. Passengers, however, expressed frustration with the situation. Abhishek Maheshwari, who had his flights cancelled for the past two days, said he was forced to take a bus to Indore due to unavailability of seats on connecting flights. Shailash Choudhary, who returned from Malaysia, complained about the lack of information provided by IndiGo officials and the high airfares. Despite the difficulties, Prabhat Kumar, who landed in Bhopal from Delhi, noted that the situation at airports had improved. "Even train tickets are expensive," he said, referring to the high airfares. As operations continue to improve, passengers can expect a smoother travel experience in the coming days.
