India's major airports were gripped by chaos on Friday, with over 400 IndiGo flights cancelled, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded. The crisis led to frustrated travellers taking to social media to express their anger and helplessness. In a heart-wrenching video, a distressed passenger can be seen appealing to his boss not to fire him, highlighting the dire situation. The clip, shared by Ayush Kuchya on X, shows several passengers stranded at the airport, with one person expressing their distrust in the airline. Another passenger claimed that they were told their flight couldn't take off because the captain hadn't arrived. An elderly person added that they no longer trust the airline. Kuchya himself shared his own struggles, as his father-in-law is sick, but he remains helpless due to the lack of communication from the airline. The crisis has led to widespread criticism on social media, with several passengers sharing images and videos from airports across various cities. IndiGo's on-time performance at six metro airports dropped to 8.5 per cent on Thursday, according to the Civil Aviation Ministry website. The airline's shares slipped 3.1 per cent on Friday. In the last few days, over 500 IndiGo flights have been cancelled or delayed due to problems adapting to new crew rostering rules. IndiGo has stated that it will normalise operations and progressively recover punctuality across the network over the next 48 hours. The airline assured its teams are working around the clock to ease customer discomfort and ensure operations stabilize as quickly as possible.
