IndiGo has cancelled all flights from Delhi until midnight and from Chennai until 6pm, as the airline continues to grapple with the aftermath of a massive operational breakdown. The disruptions, which have left thousands of passengers stranded for a fourth day, have also affected flights from Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru. According to reports, the airline has cancelled at least 104 flights from Mumbai, 92 from Hyderabad, and 102 from Bengaluru. With 235 daily departures from Delhi, the cancellations have caused significant disruption to the airline's operations. In a statement, the Delhi airport announced that IndiGo's domestic flights from the capital have been cancelled, while operations for other carriers remain unaffected. The airline's pilots, cabin crew, and ground staff have issued an open letter accusing the airline of failing to plan and prepare for the disruptions, which they claim were preventable. The letter highlights the impact on front-line workers, who faced the full brunt of passenger anger and public blame. The airline has admitted to aviation regulators that the operational meltdown was caused by 'misjudgment and planning gaps' in adapting to crew fatigue rules, which it had two years to prepare for. With its on-time performance (OTP) falling to a historic low of 8.5%, IndiGo commands 60% of India's domestic market.
