In a move to address passenger grievances over recent flight disruptions, the Indian government has issued strict directives to IndiGo. The airline has been asked to clear all pending refunds for cancelled or disrupted flights by 8:00 PM on Sunday, December 7, 2025. As part of the directive, IndiGo must also establish dedicated passenger-support and refund-facilitation cells to reach out to affected travelers. The airline has been instructed to maintain clear communication with passengers regarding tracking and delivery timelines for lost baggage, and provide compensation where required. Passengers who had bookings cancelled between December 5 and December 15 will receive a full refund, according to IndiGo's latest announcement. The government has also invoked its regulatory powers to curb excessive airfare pricing, prescribing fare caps on affected routes. These caps will remain in force until the situation stabilizes. The Ministry of Civil Aviation remains in close coordination with airlines, airports, and other stakeholders to ensure passenger rights are protected during the disruption. The government's efforts aim to prevent any exploitation of passengers in distress and guarantee proper facilitation for senior citizens, differently-abled passengers, students, patients, and those requiring urgent travel.
