Israel is set to install a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in one of its major cities, a move aimed at strengthening ties with India. The country's consul general to Mumbai, Yaniv Revach, revealed the proposal to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who gave his blessing for the long-term project.
The statue, a display of goodwill from Israel to the Indian people, will serve as a powerful symbol of India-Israel ties and highlight the historical links between Maharashtra and the Indian Jewish community.
Revach cited the similarities in the history of both India and Israel, including the struggles for independence and the importance of good governance, courage, and religious tolerance. He believes that creating greater awareness about Shivaji Maharaj in Israel will bring people from the two countries closer.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra CM Fadnavis unveiled a 20-foot bronze statue of Shivaji Maharaj at the Navi Mumbai international airport on the king's coronation day, saying it will inspire and energize passengers arriving at or departing from the airport.
