New Delhi, Supreme Court judge Justice Manmohan emphasized that criticism of the existing system should not be treated as its condemnation but rather as a suggestion.

Speaking at a legal conclave, Justice Manmohan said that when highlighting shortcomings in the system, it's done to improve it, not to condemn it.

He cited an example of a case where he quashed an FIR against a film producer, stating that a film depicting social evils should not be prosecuted under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Act.

Justice Manmohan also stressed the importance of treating criticism as a suggestion and not using it as a weapon to further one's case.

He further urged law firms to take a broader view of legal education, treating the world as a single entity and finding solutions to shared problems.

Regarding technology, Justice Manmohan said it should be used as an enabler, retaining human oversight and control.

He also flagged the issue of pendency, suggesting that the arbitral system has become a problem due to the way it's being conducted.

Justice Manmohan urged the government to involve mediation at all levels and reconsider the decision to stay out of arbitration law if the claim is beyond a certain threshold.
