Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar have criticized the Centre's approach to the women's reservation and delimitation bill, saying it was introduced without proper consultation with opposition parties.

Siddaramaiah accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of using the women's reservation issue for political purposes, while Shivakumar said the Centre's approach was undemocratic.

The Congress leaders expressed concern that the proposed delimitation exercise could alter the balance of power between States, disproportionately favouring larger northern States.

They also rejected allegations that the Congress opposed women's reservation, saying the party had a record of supporting the issue.

The BJP, however, blamed the Congress for the bill's defeat, accusing the party of denying women political representation.
