Kerala has suspended Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) A Umesh following allegations of sex assault and bribery against him. The move comes after a high-ranking police officer's suicide note revealed a scandal involving the DySP. According to an internal inquiry report, Umesh, who served as the inspector of police at the Vadakkenchery station, used his position to exploit a woman in custody and extort bribes from individuals involved in prostitution. The incident sparked outrage and tarnished the image of the Kerala police force. An inquiry officer will be appointed to conduct an oral inquiry into the matter. The suspension is a step towards disciplinary action, pending further investigation.
