Union parliamentary affairs minister Kiren Rijiju said the failure of a Constitutional amendment bill to increase the number of seats in the Lok Sabha is not a government failure, but a loss for women who have been denied participation in decision-making.
The minister blamed the Opposition, particularly the Congress, for denying women their rights, saying they will have to face the consequences.
Rijiju accused the Congress of having an anti-women mindset and slammed them for not attending meetings to discuss the issue.
The minister said he reached out to leaders of all major parties to seek their support for the proposed bills, but the Congress refused to engage in discussions.
Rijiju also denied allegations that the government was using the delimitation bill to alter the federal structure of the country.
