The Left Democratic Front (LDF) has unveiled its manifesto for the Kerala elections, promising to eradicate absolute poverty, hike social welfare pensions to ₹3,000, and provide jobs for every student.
The LDF, seeking a third consecutive term in power, has vowed to continue its development initiatives in key sectors like health, education, infrastructure, and agriculture, while assuring new initiatives for marginalized sections to build a 'nava Keralam' (New Kerala).
The manifesto, unveiled by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, includes 950 proposals codified into a 60-point programme across sectors, including eliminating absolute poverty, lifting around 500,000 families out of poverty, and providing jobs for every student through campus placements.
The LDF has also promised to increase the share of employed women from 30% to 50%, hike social welfare pensions from ₹2,000 to ₹3,000, and undertake efforts for a north-south high-speed railway corridor with the help of the Union government.
Additionally, the ruling coalition has pledged to implement a universal health insurance scheme with limitless treatment benefits, set up an independent body for media monitoring and fact-checking, and ensure supply of piped water to every household in the state.
