The massive fire that ravaged a commercial building in Lucknow's Aliganj area left at least 15 people dead and several others injured.
Animal rights activists, including Kiran Shukla, helped rescue over 30 dogs and cats trapped inside a pet facility on the ground floor and basement.
Shukla and local residents managed to rescue around 20-22 dogs and puppies, 7 cats, and kittens from the pet shop and clinic.
However, 4-5 cats remained unaccounted for, and their fate is feared to be grim.
The pet facility was affected by the blaze, while the animation centre on the upper floor witnessed major human casualties.
