A shocking case of murder has unfolded in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, where a 33-year-old engineer, Surya Pratap Singh, was found dead with his throat slit inside his home. His live-in partner, 49-year-old Ratna Devi, has confessed to the crime, alleging months of abuse, surveillance, and confinement. According to police, Ratna claimed that Surya had installed three CCTV cameras inside their home, monitoring their activities through live feeds on his phone. She alleged that he had been controlling her every move and that of her two daughters, aged 15 and 17, who were also subjected to restrictions. Ratna further alleged that Surya had been misbehaving with her elder daughter for months, which escalated into a violent confrontation on the night of the murder. The police say that Ratna and her younger daughter helped restrain Surya before she stabbed him multiple times. The police investigation has revealed that the daughters were barred from using social media or watching reels, and that they were even forced to quit their studies. The house, which was purchased by Surya, had become a flashpoint due to a dispute over property rights. Ratna had financed the construction using money she received after her husband's death. Surya's family has alleged that the murder was a pre-planned attempt to take over his assets. His father, Narendra Singh, has filed a case against Ratna and her daughters, accusing them of pre-meditated murder with the intention of grabbing the house. The case reflects a disturbing mix of alleged child abuse, controlling behavior, and a breakdown of domestic relations. The police have taken the two minors into protective custody, and the investigation is ongoing.
