Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has called for the dissemination of accurate information about the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission Bill, a new rural employment scheme in Madhya Pradesh. Speaking at a meeting with Rozgar Sahayaks from various states, Chouhan accused some individuals of spreading misinformation about the initiative, which replaces the MGNREGA. The minister emphasized the importance of understanding the truth behind the VB-G RAM G Act and ensuring that all villages receive correct information. The new scheme has seen an increase in administrative expenditure from 6% to 9%, which will allow for over ₹13,000 crore to be allocated for employee salaries and administrative costs. Chouhan stated that this amount will suffice for salary payments and that measures will be taken to prevent wasteful spending on unnecessary items and vehicles. He also highlighted the increase in employment days from 100 to 125 under the new law, describing it as a strengthening of the employment guarantee. The minister acknowledged concerns raised by Rozgar Sahayaks about delayed and withheld salaries, assuring that salaries will be paid before other expenses are incurred. Additionally, he mentioned provisions for unemployment allowance and compensation for delayed payment. Chouhan mentioned that the current wage rates will remain in place, with wages increasing annually. The VB-G RAM G scheme will cover four categories of work: water conservation, basic village infrastructure, livelihood-based activities, and protection from natural disasters.
