A 44-year-old marine engineer, Suresh Patnala, was among three Indian crew members who died in a US military strike on a commercial vessel off the Oman coast. His family was awaiting his return to celebrate their 15th wedding anniversary.
Suresh's wife, Bhargavi, received a phone call and message informing her of a drone attack on the vessel, with three Indian crew members missing. She spent the night and next day in constant contact with company representatives, pressing for updates as rescue teams searched for the missing crew.
Her worst fears were confirmed when officials informed her that Suresh's body had been recovered. Bhargavi is now urging authorities to expedite the formalities required to bring her husband's mortal remains home.
