Massive Crackdown Before New Year: Delhi Police Seize Illicit Goods, Arrest Over 200 in Operation Aaghat 3.0

In a massive crackdown before New Year's celebrations, the Delhi Police conducted Operation Aaghat 3.0 on Friday, making significant seizures and arrests. According to reports, the police apprehended 285 people for offenses under the Excise Act, NDPS Act, and Gambling Act. Over 500 individuals were detained in preventive measures, and 116 people identified as having a "bad character" were arrested. As part of the operation, the police recovered a range of illicit goods, including knives, pistols, cartridges, and cannabis. The seizures included: * 21 country-made pistols * 20 live cartridges * 27 knives * 12,258 quarters of illicit liquor * 6.01 kg of ganja * ₹2,30,990 in cash * 310 mobile phones * 231 two-wheelers and one four-wheeler Delhi Police's DCP South East Hemant Tiwari said the operation was a significant step in maintaining law and order. He added that the 285 arrested individuals have been booked under the Excise Act, NDPS Act, and Gambling Act. The operation also led to the arrest of 10 property offenders and five auto-lifters. This is the third edition of Operation Aaghat, following the first edition in September and the second in October. The operation aims to enhance public safety, deter criminal activities, strengthen community policing, and improve response to emergencies. The Delhi Police has made significant efforts to crack down on organized crime, habitual offenders, bootleggers, and drug peddlers.
