The role of the Mittal family has come under scrutiny in the matchmaking of Siya Goyal and Ketan Agrawal, whose murder at Lohagad Fort near Lonavala in Pune has left investigators searching for motives.
Narendra Mittal and Renu Mittal, Siya's relatives, helped bring the two families together for the marriage but expressed shock over the allegations against their niece.
According to officials, Siya did not want to marry Ketan and had been in a relationship with Chetan Chaudhary for over a year.
Narendra Mittal reportedly told police he had never imagined Siya could be involved in such a crime, saying 'We never expected that Siya could do something like this. Both Siya and Ketan were well-mannered, humble, and good-natured.'
The couple got engaged in February, and their wedding was planned for November. The investigation continues with Siya Goyal remaining in police custody until June 29.
