India and Jordan are looking to strengthen their economic ties, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposing a doubling of bilateral trade to $5 billion over the next five years during his visit to Amman. Modi and King Abdullah II emphasized the need to increase business-to-business ties and called on industry leaders to convert potential into growth. India is Jordan's third-largest trading partner, with bilateral trade valued at $2.88 billion in 2023-24. The two countries have existing trade agreements, with India importing fertilizers and phosphates from Jordan and exporting electrical machinery, cereals, frozen meat, chemicals, petroleum products, and automotive parts. Modi noted that the historic trust between the two countries and future economic opportunities are a perfect match, saying, "Jordan's strength is geography, and India has both skill and scale. When these two strengths come together, it will provide new opportunities for the youth of both countries.
